Marcel Ghost and the Geometry of Blackwork

Marcel Ghost’s work does not whisper. It is not delicate. It is the tattoo equivalent of standing in front of a brutalist concrete wall and feeling, for the first time, that weight could be beautiful.

“Geometry is the oldest human mark-making,” Marcel says, tracing a perfectly divided circle on a sheet of tracing paper. “Every ancient culture used it — for ceremony, for protection, for mapping the stars. I’m just continuing a conversation that started ten thousand years ago.”

The results are striking: symmetrical mandalas that span entire ribcages, stippled gradients that shift from pure black to untouched skin within millimeters, and architectural forms that reference everything from Prairie-style windows to Gothic cathedrals.

Aftercare Note

Blackwork requires vigilant sun protection. Marcel offers a free touch-up within six months for any pieces that need reinforcement after the Saskatchewan sun has had its say.
